On December 2020, the U.S. House of Representative and Senate adopted Bill H.R. 2420, establishing the National Museum of the American Latino (Museo Latino).
Under the umbrella of the Smithsonian Institution, the museum’s mission was to honour the tribute of the Hispanic world. Today they represent nearly 20% of the total US population.
However, the museum’s structure has been taken over by the political “woke” and it has an agenda lead by the “decolonization” movement, with could be appreciate in the ¡Presente! exhibition.
This movement was exacerbated on 2020 and its linked to activist groups including Black Lives Matter.
They tore down the statute of Friar Junipero Serra – an advocate for the indigenous peoples of California –. They also assaulted the statute of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra in the city of San Francisco.
Famous names not linked to the museum or academic world such as the actresses Sofia Vergara, Eva Longoria and the chef José Andrés are part of this leading governmental board. Thera are total of 19 members.
